Macharia was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in September. The oncology team at Kisumu Cancer Centre has planned 6 rounds of treatment, starting in December. He will be away from work for about 4 weeks. Macharia is 26, worked as a hairdresser until September, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Kisumu Cancer Centre 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
