Fighting Hodgkin lymphoma: help John afford treatment in Manchester
8 rounds of treatment are planned at Manchester Cancer Centre; we're asking for help with the costs insurance doesn't cover.

In January I was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma. My oncology team at Manchester Cancer Centre has planned 8 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in April. I was told to expect about 4 weeks away from work.
I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 54, I worked as a bank teller until January, and I have been the main earner for my household.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Manchester Cancer Centre 3 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly.
My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $9,250 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $5,500
• Scans and lab work: $1,200
• Transport to Manchester Cancer Centre: $1,050
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $630
• Household costs while unable to work: $870
Thank you for reading my story.
