In November I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. My oncology team at Varanasi Regional Medical Center has planned 12 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in February. I was told to expect about 3 weeks away from work. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 56, I worked as a taxi driver until November, and I have been the main earner for my household. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Varanasi Regional Medical Center 5 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly. My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $1,400 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $840 • Scans and lab work: $160 • Transport to Varanasi Regional Medical Center: $100 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $125 • Household costs while unable to work: $175 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to. - Venkat
