Fighting cervical cancer: help Lasanthi afford treatment in Galle
Lasanthi is facing cervical cancer and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

In June I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. My oncology team at the Galle Oncology Institute has planned 6 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in October. I was told to expect about 6 weeks away from work.
I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 53, I worked as a primary school teacher until June, and I have been the main earner for my household.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to the Galle Oncology Institute 2 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly.
My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $600 goes:
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $75
• Transport to the Galle Oncology Institute: $175
• Household costs while unable to work: $180
• Scans and lab work: $170
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.
