Feed 70 families each week at Neighbors' Pantry in Tokyo
Hideo runs a volunteer pantry feeding 70 families; this fund restocks shelves for the harvest gap.

Since 2023, our volunteer team has run Neighbors' Pantry every Saturday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 23 families, and now we feed 70 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 59% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 6 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Tokyo market and keep every receipt.
Each $30 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $2,000 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,050
• Refrigeration and electricity: $290
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $660
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Best of luck. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. All the best!
Take care, Hideo. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer.
Thanks for sharing this, Hideo. I hope things turn around soon. I hope May is when things finally get easier. Greetings from Ciudad de México.
