Feed 61 families each week at Community Pantry in Quezon City
Help keep a free food pantry open for students and shift workers in Quezon City.
🇵🇭 Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines472 views
Since 2023, our volunteer team has run Community Pantry every Saturday from the back of the parish hall. We started with 24 families, and now we feed 61 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 45% this summer, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 11 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Quezon City market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $500 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $195
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $220
• Baby formula and diapers: $70
• Refrigeration and electricity: $15
Thanks for being kind about this.
Updates from Arnel
Good news. Because of your gifts ($429 in total) we've booked the dates and paid the deposit. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
Update from Quezon City: I made the first payment toward baby formula and diapers. We're at 50% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.
