Feed 333 families each week at the Thursday Table in Santos
Help keep a free food pantry open for students and shift workers in Santos.
🇧🇷 Santos, São Paulo, Brazil1,050 views
Since 2021, our volunteer team has run the Thursday Table every Sunday from the back of the old library basement. We started with 27 families, and now we feed 333 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 54% this summer, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 10 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Santos market and keep every receipt.
Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $800 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $420
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $300
• Refrigeration and electricity: $80
Thanks for reading all this.

Good luck. Shared it with a few friends. I went through something like this 9 years ago and strangers helped me out.
Take care, Edilene. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I'm in logistics myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Take care.
Hope this works out for you. Wish I lived closer to Addis Ababa so I could bring a meal. Blessings.
Hope things get better soon, Edilene. Great idea, hope you get there. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Blessings.
So sorry you're going through this. More neighborhoods should do this. I went through something like this 5 years ago and strangers helped me out. Love from Gwangju
