The the Second Helping pantry in Fresno is running low just as demand rises; $2,250 will stock it for 9 weeks.

Since 2022, our volunteer team has run the Second Helping every Monday from the back of the old library basement. We started with 10 families, and now we feed 262 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 35% this winter, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 14 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Fresno market and keep every receipt.
Each $30 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $2,250 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,050
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $520
• Baby formula and diapers: $520
• Refrigeration and electricity: $160
