Since 2020, our volunteer team has run the Second Helping every Tuesday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 16 families, and now we feed 224 each week. Donations have dropped by about 45% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 20 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Thiruvananthapuram market and keep every receipt. Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week. I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday. Where the $600 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $330 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $180 • Baby formula and diapers: $45 • Refrigeration and electricity: $45 Glad we found this place. - Jagadish

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Jagadish

    • Jagadish S. NairOwnerAnswerID verified

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale) comes first ($330) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Happy to explain more.
