Since 2020, our volunteer team has run the Sunday Shelf every Wednesday from the back of a community center. We started with 15 families, and now we feed 167 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 40% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 8 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Islamabad market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $500 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $260
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $145
• Baby formula and diapers: $60
• Refrigeration and electricity: $35

Sending good thoughts, Hina. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Blessings
Wishing you the best, Hina. More neighborhoods should do this. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend.
