The the Sunday Shelf pantry in Gujranwala is running low just as demand rises; $450 will stock it for 7 weeks.

Gujranwala
Since 2020, our volunteer team has run the Sunday Shelf every Saturday from the back of a community center. We started with 20 families, and now we feed 126 each week. Donations have dropped by about 58% this summer, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 13 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Gujranwala market and keep every receipt. Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week. I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday. Where the $450 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $260 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $100 • Baby formula and diapers: $45 • Refrigeration and electricity: $45 Thanks for being kind about this. - Hira

Updates from Hira

  1. We're at 36% thanks to 8 of you. I met with the wholesaler and confirmed the amounts. More news soon.

  2. Small update. $105 so far, I made the first payment toward baby formula and diapers.

The list at the bottom is the whole picture. rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale) is the biggest at $260. Happy to explain more.
