Since 2022, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Thursday from the back of the mosque courtyard. We started with 26 families, and now we feed 104 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 36% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 6 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Boulogne-Billancourt market and keep every receipt.
Each $25 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $2,650 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,500
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $600
• Baby formula and diapers: $430
• Refrigeration and electricity: $120
With deep gratitude,
Thomas

So sorry you're going through this. This could happen to any of us. After 10 years in public service I know how hard it's to ask for anything
