Alexa, my mother, passed away on 6 September after a stroke. She was 50 years old. She was the heart of our family and had no savings or life insurance.
The funeral home has given us a quote of $5,250 and the cemetery needs payment before the burial date of 18 September.
I have already used what I had for the hospital bills. My family is scattered, and many of us are out of work. We want Alexa to have a dignified farewell.

The funds will be paid directly to the funeral home, and I'll share the receipt.

• Funeral home services and casket: $3,650
• Memorial gathering for the family: $490
• Cemetery plot and burial fees: $1,110
