Elias was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule that needs removal in June. The surgeon at London Community Hospital recommended valve repair surgery, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $11,750, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $5,900 short. my son has been in and out of London Community Hospital since June. The doctors say a thyroid nodule that needs removal will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $11,750 is more than we can find. While we wait, Elias struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time Elias won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $5,900 goes: • Physiotherapy sessions: $620 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $1,950 • Hospital stay (2 nights): $2,450 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $600 • Travel and lodging for the family: $280 Thanks for reading all this.

  • Sending strength. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I went through something like this 13 years ago and strangers helped me out. Greetings from Cebu City.

    • Sending good thoughts, Josiah. Gave what I could, wish it was more. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Love from Howrah.

      • Praying for you, Josiah. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. It's not much but it's yours. Thinking of London.
