Juiz de Fora
I'm the first person in my family to go to university. I'm studying a diploma in hospitality management at the Juiz de Fora Institute of Technology, and I'm one semester away from graduating. I have worked as a barista to pay my way, but this term my hours were cut and I have an unpaid balance of $1,850. The registrar has told me I can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. I have a first-class average, and my faculty supervisor has written in support of my application for a payment plan. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support my younger siblings. Without enrolling this term I'd lose my place and my scholarship eligibility. I'm not asking for a handout - I want to finish what I started and then help the next student. Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees. Where the $1,850 goes: • Textbooks and materials: $70 • Outstanding tuition balance: $710 • Final term tuition: $1,070 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it. - Edilene

    How is Edilene doing now?

    • Best of luck. Gave what I could, wish it was more. It's not much but it's yours. Greetings from Yonkers.

          • So sorry you're going through this, Edilene. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. After 9 years in customer support I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Greetings from Nashik

            • Hope things get better soon. Looking forward to the next update. My father had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. God bless.

              • Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Edilene.

Sure. The biggest one is textbooks and materials, $70. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Good question.

              • Your post was clear and honest. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. All the best.
