Earthquake in Coyoacán: help the Marketplace neighborhood rebuild
Neighbors in the Marketplace neighborhood are rebuilding after the earthquake; every contribution goes to materials and supplies.
🇲🇽 Coyoacán, Ciudad de México, Mexico932 views
The earthquake hit the Marketplace neighborhood on 24 August. My home was one of 63 damaged, and 14 families are still in temporary shelter at the local school gym.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates.
Where the $1,100 goes:
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $370
• Clean water and purification supplies: $240
• Tools and labor for repairs: $490
With deep gratitude,
Susana

I hope things turn around soon. It's not much but it's yours. Greetings from Kingston.
More neighborhoods should do this. My father had a similar thing happen so this one hit home.
Keep going. This could happen to any of us. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. All the best.
