Earthquake in Ciudad de México: help the Orchard district rebuild
The earthquake damaged 56 homes in the Orchard district. We're raising funds for repairs, supplies and temporary shelter.

The earthquake hit the Orchard district on 2 May. My home was one of 56 damaged, and 8 families are still in temporary shelter at the local school gym.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates.
Where the $2,500 goes:
• Roofing sheets and timber: $1,050
• Clean water and purification supplies: $300
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $290
• Food parcels for displaced families: $370
• Tools and labor for repairs: $490
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Best of luck, Abril. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Greetings from Aberdeen.
best of luck, Abril. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. It's not much but it's yours. All the best.
Hang in there. Looking forward to the next update. We're a small family in Sandton but we're thinking of you.
Keep going. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My neighbor had a similar thing happen so this one hit home!
Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Love from Medan

You're not alone, Abril. Your post was clear and honest. Sent it to 33 people at work. Thinking of Ciudad de México.
