Clean water and shade for Dwarka: restoring the Liberty wetland
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Liberty wetland needs $350 for saplings and equipment.
Anywhere in the world684 views
The Liberty wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 67 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 76 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $350 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $200
• Tools and protective gear: $70
• Waste removal and skip hire: $70
• Signage and educational materials: $10
With deep gratitude,
Kavita

Gave what I could, wish it was more. Love from Medellín
Good luck. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Take care
