Clean streets and rivers for Davao City: restoring the Union riverbank
Volunteers are restoring the Union riverbank in Davao City; $400 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇵🇭 Philippines1,408 views
The Union riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This November, 78 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 107 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $400 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $230
• Tools and protective gear: $40
• Waste removal and skip hire: $60
• Signage and educational materials: $70
Thanks for reading all this.

Thinking of you and your family, Arnel. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. I have a 8 year old who wants to send good wishes too.
Keep going. It takes guts to ask. Well done. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Blessings
