Clean air and water for Townsville: restoring Acacia Beach
Volunteers are restoring Acacia Beach in Townsville; $1,750 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇦🇺 Townsville, Queensland, Australia556 views
Acacia Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This December, 48 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 102 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $1,750 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,150
• Tools and protective gear: $210
• Waste removal and skip hire: $290
• Signage and educational materials: $100
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

take care, Cooper. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. All the best.
So sorry you're going through this, Cooper. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like
Hope it all works out. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Love from Södertälje.
