Clean air and water for Alicante: restoring the Pioneer riverbank
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Pioneer riverbank needs $1,050 for saplings and equipment.
🇪🇸 Alicante, Valencian Community, Spain1,063 views
The Pioneer riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 98 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 147 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $1,050 goes:
• Tools and protective gear: $185
• Waste removal and skip hire: $280
• Native saplings and stakes: $585
Every share and every dollar helps.

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Paloma!
It's all in the list in the story. tools and protective gear is the big one at $185, I'll post a receipt when it's paid. Ask me anything else.
rooting for you, Paloma. This could happen to any of us
Sending good thoughts, Paloma. Looking forward to the next update. I hope November is when things finally get easier. God bless.
Stay strong, Paloma. I hope things turn around soon. My mother had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Take care
Thinking of you, Paloma. Hope this works out for you. My neighbor in Sapporo donated after I showed her your page. Greetings from Sapporo.
Wishing you peace. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. After 16 years in teaching I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
Rooting for you, Paloma. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. We're a small family in Toulouse but we're thinking of you. God bless.
