Carlos is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying a computer science degree at Ribeirão Preto University, and is one term away from graduating. He has worked as a night-shift cleaner to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $1,700.
The registrar has said Carlos can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Carlos has a top-ten-percent average, and a faculty supervisor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Carlos would lose his place and scholarship eligibility.
Carlos isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the Ribeirão Preto University bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
