Back to business - Mwende's comeback in Dar es Salaam
Mwende has run a neighborhood bakery for three years; a fire in the building destroyed the equipment, and $450 will put it back on its feet.

For three years I have run a neighborhood bakery in Dar es Salaam. In December, a fire in the building took a commercial oven. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Monday, and I employed 3 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 6 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
I'll buy equipment from local suppliers and post photos and receipts as I go.
Where the $450 goes:
• Replacing a commercial oven: $175
• Initial stock: flour, butter and sugar: $120
• Shop repairs and licensing: $85
• Working capital for the first month: $70
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Updates from Mwende
Good news. Because of your gifts ($104 in total) I met with the supplier and confirmed the amounts. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
Quick update: $50 raised so far (11%). I made the first payment toward shop repairs and licensing. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.

your post was clear and honest. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. All the best.
