Back to business - Chebet's comeback in Kinondoni
Chebet lost a cold-storage unit to floodwater and needs $500 to reopen a small grocery stall and support the family.

For nine years I have run a small grocery stall in Kinondoni. In July, floodwater took a cold-storage unit. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Saturday, and I employed 2 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 8 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
I'll buy equipment from local suppliers and post photos and receipts as I go.
Where the $500 goes:
• Shop repairs and licensing: $35
• Initial stock: fresh produce: $70
• Replacing a cold-storage unit: $395
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

how is Chebet doing now?
Hope things get better soon, Chebet. Small businesses are the heart of Kinondoni. Hope you're open again soon. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like
Thanks for sharing this. It takes guts to ask. Well done. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. God bless
