Back on our feet: Sarah and twin daughters in Bakersfield
Sarah and twin daughters need a bridge to stability after the death of my husband.
🇺🇸 United States194 views
Since the death of my husband in June, I'm now raising twin daughters on my own. I work as a part-time receptionist, but my income doesn't cover rent, childcare and groceries.
I'm retraining as a dental nurse in the evenings, which will triple my income by October, but I need to bridge the gap until then.
Some weeks I skip meals so my children can eat. I have never asked anyone for help like this before, and I'm doing it for them.
Once I finish my course, I'll pay it forward.
Every cent is accounted for. I'll share a simple monthly breakdown.
Where the $3,650 goes:
• Rent top-up: $990
• Childcare and after-school care: $1,350
• Groceries and school meals: $640
• Course fees and exam costs: $670
Glad we found this place.

Thanks for sharing this, Sarah. Gave what I could, wish it was more. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Greetings from Lagos.
Your post was clear and honest. Thinking of Bakersfield.
Rooting for you, Sarah. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did.
Take care, Sarah. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Put this on a community board in San Diego this morning.
thinking of you and your family. Shared this with my family. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. All the best.
