ACL reconstruction for Zaid: covering what insurance won't

Zaid was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in the right knee in August. The surgeon at Eindhoven General Hospital recommended ACL reconstruction, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $13,500, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $6,750 short.
my father has been in and out of Eindhoven General Hospital since August. The doctors say osteoarthritis in the right knee will get worse without ACL reconstruction. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $13,500 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Zaid struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Zaid won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
