Acacia Park needs a rainwater harvesting system - Leonardo's neighborhood project

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 17 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Acacia Park, but no funding. We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $1,600. It will serve about 252 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $1,600 goes: • Materials: $860 • Permits and inspections: $220 • Safety equipment and signage: $165 • Tools hire and delivery: $355 Thank you for reading my story.
