A youth football pitch for the Pioneer vacant lot: help our neighbors in Rochester

We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a youth football pitch - we need $4,250 for materials.

Rochester
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a youth football pitch. This year a group of 8 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Pioneer vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $4,250. It will serve about 469 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in April and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $4,250 goes: • Materials: $3,300 • Permits and inspections: $270 • Safety equipment and signage: $390 • Tools hire and delivery: $290 If you're reading this, thank you. - Caleb

Updates from Caleb

  1. Wanted to say thank you properly. 7% funded and I met with the suppliers and confirmed the amounts.

  2. Thank you all. We're at 3% now ($124). I'm honestly stunned. I made the first payment toward permits and inspections.

More neighborhoods should do this. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. All the best.

Stay strong, Caleb. More neighborhoods should do this. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Rochester.
