A youth football pitch: a volunteer-led effort in Nottingham
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a youth football pitch - we need $2,100 for materials.
🇬🇧 United Kingdom1,957 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a youth football pitch. This year a group of 23 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Sycamore health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $1,250, and the remaining cost is $2,100.
It will serve about 516 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $2,100 goes:
• Materials: $1,400
• Permits and inspections: $220
• Safety equipment and signage: $210
• Tools hire and delivery: $270
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Hang in there, Rachel. More neighborhoods should do this. Don't be hard on yourself for asking.
Good luck. Great idea, hope you get there. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Blessings.
Stay strong, Rachel. Hope this works out for you. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like
