A solar-powered water pump: a volunteer-led effort in Hồ Chí Minh City
Volunteers in Hồ Chí Minh City are raising $600 for a solar-powered water pump at Liberty Park.

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 26 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Liberty Park, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $600.
It will serve about 212 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $600 goes:
• Safety equipment and signage: $45
• Permits and inspections: $20
• Materials: $535
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.
Updates from Hạnh
Quick update: $80 raised so far (13%). I made the first payment toward permits and inspections. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.
Thank you all. We're at 11% now ($64). I'm honestly stunned. we've started the first stage.
