A solar-powered water pump: a volunteer-led effort in Dhaka
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a solar-powered water pump - we need $300 for materials.
Anywhere in the world1,273 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 17 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Sycamore Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $300.
It will serve about 227 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $300 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $40
• Safety equipment and signage: $45
• Materials: $215
Thank you so much.

Praying for you, Rahim. More neighborhoods should do this. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too
Praying for you, Rahim. Great idea, hope you get there. Greetings from Madina.
