Joliet
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 18 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Union vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $3,600. It will serve about 541 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in January and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $3,600 goes: • Materials: $3,150 • Safety equipment and signage: $270 • Permits and inspections: $180 Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.
