A skate park: a volunteer-led effort in San Diego
Volunteers in San Diego are raising $4,050 for a skate park at the Liberty health centre yard.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 15 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Liberty health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $500, and the remaining cost is $4,050.
It will serve about 549 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $4,050 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $130
• Tools hire and delivery: $430
• Materials: $3,490
