A community-led a sensory garden for children with autism at the Freedom health centre yard that will serve 572 neighbors.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 20 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Freedom health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $80, and the remaining cost is $500.
It will serve about 572 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in June and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $500 goes:
• Materials: $370
• Permits and inspections: $15
• Safety equipment and signage: $50
• Tools hire and delivery: $65
