A sensory garden for children with autism for the Acacia health centre yard: help our neighbors in Likoni
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a sensory garden for children with autism - we need $200 for materials.
🇰🇪 Likoni, Mombasa, Kenya1,261 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 20 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Acacia health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $200.
It will serve about 426 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $200 goes:
• Safety equipment and signage: $65
• Tools hire and delivery: $65
• Permits and inspections: $70
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
