A rainwater harvesting system: a volunteer-led effort in Iztapalapa
Volunteers in Iztapalapa are raising $200 for a rainwater harvesting system at the Cedar vacant lot.

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 24 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Cedar vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $200.
It will serve about 148 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $200 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $85
• Safety equipment and signage: $55
• Tools hire and delivery: $60
