A rainwater harvesting system: a volunteer-led effort in Awka
A community-led a rainwater harvesting system at the old Acacia bus depot that will serve 171 neighbors.

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 14 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Acacia bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $650.
It will serve about 171 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $650 goes:
• Materials: $510
• Permits and inspections: $15
• Safety equipment and signage: $45
• Tools hire and delivery: $80
