Parramatta
My family left Venezuela 13 months ago after the war reached our town. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Parramatta. We're a family of four and we're safe, but we arrived with very little. Our resettlement agency has provided 2 months of rent, and that support ends in August. I was a nurse in Venezuela, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well. We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months. Funds are managed by a local church-run settlement group, a registered organization, which pays the landlord and suppliers on the family's behalf. Where the $2,850 goes: • Phone and internet for school and job search: $125 • Beds, table and basic furniture: $630 • Rent deposit and first month: $2,095 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

  • Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Elias.

    • I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Don't be hard on yourself for asking.

      • Is there anything that isn't money that would help Elias?

Sharing the link is the biggest thing. And if you know anything about phone and internet for school and job search, advice is welcome too. I'll keep the page updated.

      • Hope it all works out. It takes guts to ask. Well done. We're a small family in Montego Bay but we're thinking of you. Blessings.

        • Hang in there, Elias. Hope you get there. My neighbor had a similar thing happen so this one hit home.

Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My neighbor in Syracuse donated after I showed her your page.
