A free library and reading room for the Lotus community hall: help our neighbors in Paris
A community-led a free library and reading room at the Lotus community hall that will serve 552 neighbors.
Anywhere in the world2,940 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 20 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Lotus community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $2,750.
It will serve about 552 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,750 goes:
• Materials: $2,000
• Permits and inspections: $310
• Safety equipment and signage: $260
• Tools hire and delivery: $180

Hope it all works out, Abdullah. Hope you get there.
Keep going, Abdullah. It takes guts to ask. Well done. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Love from Mecca.
