A free library and reading room: a volunteer-led effort in Obuasi
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a free library and reading room - we need $600 for materials.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 27 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Sycamore community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $600.
It will serve about 213 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.

• Permits and inspections: $50
• Safety equipment and signage: $65
• Tools hire and delivery: $75
