Teresa was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule that needs removal in July. The surgeon at Latina University Hospital recommended a craniotomy, and She is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $4,350, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $3,250 short.
my mother has been in and out of Latina University Hospital since July. The doctors say a thyroid nodule that needs removal will get worse without a craniotomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $4,350 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Teresa struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Teresa won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing.
