For three years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 17 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Freedom bus depot, but no funding. We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $1,850. It will serve about 560 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in June and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $1,850 goes: • Materials: $1,150 • Permits and inspections: $170 • Safety equipment and signage: $270 • Tools hire and delivery: $260 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.
