A community fridge for the Liberty community hall: help our neighbors in Aberdeen
Volunteers in Aberdeen are raising $1,950 for a community fridge at the Liberty community hall.
Anywhere in the world3,396 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 30 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Liberty community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $870, and the remaining cost is $1,950.
It will serve about 423 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,950 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $200
• Materials: $1,500
• Safety equipment and signage: $250
Glad we found this place.

Thinking of you, Riley. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Thinking of Aberdeen.
